Summary: Selecting Fitting Students for a Much More School Like University? Student Assessment Tests and Modularization as Implementation of the Bologna Process in Psychology

The Bologna Process is intended to create a more comparable and competitive European college system. For this, the national systems of Higher Education are to be changed fundamentally in European Countries. The most fundamental changes in Germany besides the introduction of tuition fees are the implementation of the Bachelor and the Master as well as of new admission requirements like student assessment tests. The author discusses these developments and the diagnostic and learning theories, they are based on. It is shown, that the structural changes are not neutral to the content: Progressive approaches and critiques of Psychology are systematically erased; the implementation of the student assessment test can be seen as a consolidation of diagnostics of suitability; and the more school like organization of the curriculum produces a learning atmosphere, where just following own learning interests becomes oppositional.
