Summary: When therapy doesn´t pay off: Health as an object of economic optimization?

Throughout the health care system an increasing emphasis on an economic rationale in decision making can be observed. Therefore this paper argues, the discourse on the role of economic principles in decision making in health care needs to be institutionalised. The application of free market theories to the health care system undermines the legitimation of such a discourse. This paper comments on a contribution by Erich Wulff in FKP 51.
